Long Days, Longer Nights

This short film exudes my depiction of what it means to be a BSC Public Communications student. Long days turn into long sleepless nights, a plethora of strict deadlines, a lot of keeping up to date on current media issues and news, and quite a bit of stress on top of that. Despite showing the negative side, I find my major to be rewarding and I know I want to carry on with this for the rest of my life.

  1. Frustration and exhaustion seemed to be the tone of this video and the use of "'The Worst' instrumental was very fitting for the tone. Fiming yourself reading Buffalo State's newspaper The Record was crafty in both following the guideline of having to film yourself in the video and including a communicative form of being a student at the college.

  2. The theme you worked with is spot on when trying to discuss what being a communication student at Buffalo State is like. The video was adequate and the shots you chose to work with featured a smooth transitioning throughout, thus improving the video overall. The music was appropriate for the video as well.

  3. There’s repetitive and overlong shots in the beginning. The theme is clearly about how stressful being a BSC Communications student. The music fits the tone of the video well. The “deadlines” clip didn’t have to be as obvious and in-your-face. Excellent transitions. Shots from 1:06 through 1:11 about piling books was creative.

  4. This video definitely sums up what it is like to be a communication student. She set the tone in the beginning with the music. Her video is different than other student's because she focuses more on the workload that comes with being a student than on the building and courses itself. There was a build up of studying, working, reading, and eventually passing out at the table that I found very clever. The video seemed to work in chronological order. This video was very relate-able and the student did a great job conveying the message that being a BSC is difficult.

  5. It's clear that being a COM student here at BSC is stressful and tiring and requires a lot of work. The beginning isn't captivating because the typing scene was too long. It's good that you shown yourself throughout the video and didn't just limit yourself to one scene. The choice of music was good and went well with your theme of long nights. Overall its a decent video and your theme was clear.

  6. You showed that being a communication major here at BSC is tiring, and there's a lot of writing... which is agreeable. The typing scene are a bit too long and could've been shortened and you could have added some more in place of that. You could have also not had so much blank space at the end of the video. The song you used was right on, and enjoyable. What was interesting is that it is easy to relate to the work being stressful and the song in general even outside of school work. Theme was very easy to understand!

  7. There is a clear message about the stressful pressures of being a BSC student, which is relatable. The video began with a slow pace that helped enhance the message, however, the typing scenes could have been trimmed down to make it more engaging. The music had a sleepy rhythm to it that accurately brought the viewer into the long work nights with you. The written out word, "Deadlines" was not necessary because the video represented that action very well on its own.

  8. Your video depicted exactly what you wanted it to, long days and longer nights. It went a different route from other videos I saw and even my own so I thought the way you conveyed the topic was creative. There was an evident solid narrative and the video did visually communicate the topic of being a BSC communication student and what that is like for students within the major. Your video lacked the figurative representation of you which would have been a nice touch to the video. The clip of you typing was a bit too emphasized at the beginning, but overall everything else was well timed.
